Summer is here and with it all the many things we love: swimming pools, sunny days and, of course, delicious food. One of the things that you can’t miss is the delicious bruschetta. This italian treat is a great appetizer and it’s perfect for sharing it with your family.
If you are wondering how to prepare bruschetta, at The Great Harvest in Mentor, we tell you how to make this delicacy.
6-7 Plum Tomatoes
2 Garlic Cloves
6 Leaves of Fresh Basil
8 Slices of Bread
Salt & Pepper
Optional: Mozzarella Cheese and Anchovies
Choosing the right bread is important. We would recommend the delicious Italian Herb bread available at our bakery. Cut your bread into ½ inch slices and brush both sides with olive oil. Peel your garlic and press it hard with the flat side of a kitchen knife. As soon as your bread has a nice golden color, smear the garlic on it.
In the mean time, chop your tomatoes and basil leaves. Place them in a large bowl, add salt and pepper to taste and about 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Remember that you can add cheese and anchovies on the bread for an even more delicious flavor!
We are almost there! Serve your tomato mixture onto each slice of bread. Remember that this should be done a few minutes before eating. Otherwise, the bread will become soggy.
This fresh appetizer is perfect for this summer. The best part? It’s always a great time for a bruschetta - before a glass of wine or maybe before you eat that delicious burger.
At Great Harvest, we always have something amazing for you! Remember that we mill our whole grain flour every day, that way you can be sure you are getting the most delicious and healthy bread in Mentor.
